About The Lolliepops

In 2004, Darrell Daniel formed the Lolliepops from members of the Hey Lollies Square Dance Club.  Most of the members had not played their instruments since High School or College, and because no one had experience with percussion, two members volunteered to learn new instruments.  The first practice was in early 2004, and the first performance was at the Hey Lollies weekend in Nacogdoches in May of 2004.  The band has performed at every Hey Lollies weekend since that time, as well as other activities of the Hey Lollies club, such as the 4th of July parties.  The band has also performed at the 57th Houston Hoedown in 2005 and the 2005 HSRDC Presidents Ball, and in 2006, the band played for the Parade of States at the 55th National Square Dance Convention in San Antonio.  They held their first dance on March 31, 2007, playing a variety of jazz, rock, waltzes and polkas.
